Virginia Willis’ new book, Bon Appetit, Y’all, is packed with great Southern recipes from three generations of Southern cooks.

Virginia has cooked for the White House and stars like Aretha Franklin and Jane Fonda. She grew up in Georgia and Louisiana, learning how to make grits and gumbos from her mother and grandmother. She went on to polish her professional skills at French cooking academies. The result is a hybrid cuisine she calls “refined Southern”, a combination of traditional French techniques and lighter, modern ingredients to create new takes on Southern staples.
