Dr. David Argo has some straight forward advice for all women to make their lives healthier. 1) Make sure you get a yearly check up and stay current on the “preventive” exams: Pap Smears, Mammograms, colonoscopy, etc. 2) Take a multi-vitamin daily. There are many formulas available, but I recommend a national brand designated for women. 3) Take care of those bones. Build calcium and bone strength early and maintain them with good weight bearing exercises, appropriate diet, and if necessary, medications. Ask your doctor about a bone density study. 4) Eat a balanced, portion controlled diet. 5) Drink plenty of water. 6) Do something to use the body’s “big” muscles everyday. For example: walk the stairs at lunch and maybe take every other step as a way to build the leg muscles. 7) Stretch every morning. A gentle morning stretch helps keep you limber and your muscles ready for the day. 8)Get enough sleep. The body and mind perform better with appropriate rest. 9) Exercise 4 to 5 times a week. Find a workout partner and do something you enjoy. Be creative. Not everyone is a runner. Try spinners, yoga, karate, biking, swimming, etc. 10) Laugh at least once a day. It’s got to be good for you.
